Description

Candle Nut

Candle nut (Aleurites molucanna), also known as Aleurites molucanna, Indian Walnut, or Kukui Nut (in Hawaii), is a tropical tree that produces edible seeds with a variety of uses. The nut itself has a high oil content and is often used in cooking, cosmetics, and traditional medicine, especially in Southeast Asia and the Pacific Islands. The nuts are rich in fat, which makes them somewhat oily, and they can be toxic if consumed raw due to the presence of compounds like saponins and urushiol (similar to poison ivy).
